Original Greek Festival: August

A cherished Midwestern tradition draws thousands of visitors to St. John's Greek Orthodox Church in central Omaha for an immersive Greek experience. Twenty-five local food vendors, including family favorites like John's Gyros and Maria's Pastries, serve authentic delicacies such as souvlaki, moussaka, spanakopita, and homemade baklava. The festival features traditional Greek wines and spirits including ouzo, Mythos beer, and a selection of wines from various Greek regions.

Live performances by the Apollon Dance Troupe showcase traditional folk dances, while The Grecian Keys band provides authentic bouzouki music throughout the festivities. Indoor and outdoor marketplace areas host artisans selling traditional crafts, jewelry, and imported Greek specialty items. Approximately 15,000 attendees annually enjoy church tours, cooking demonstrations, and children's activities including face painting and traditional Greek games.


Taste of Omaha: June

This annual riverfront food and cultural celebration has become one of Nebraska's largest summer festivals, drawing over 150,000 visitors to the Lewis and Clark Landing in downtown Omaha. Taste of Omaha features more than 50 local restaurants and food vendors, including popular spots like Dante Pizzeria, Block 16, and M's Pub, serving everything from wood-fired pizzas to craft burgers and international cuisine. The Nebraska Balloon & Wine Festival, hosted at Mount Michael Benedictine Abbey in Elkhorn, welcomes over 10,000 attendees annually to experience balloon rides, wine tastings, and gourmet food pairings. Local wineries such as James Arthur Vineyards and Schilling Bridge Winery & Microbrewery offer samples of their finest vintages, while food trucks and artisan vendors serve everything from wood-fired pizzas to locally-made chocolates.

The festival features over 30 craft vendors, a dedicated kids' zone with face painting and balloon artists, and professional balloonists who conduct educational demonstrations about the art of hot air ballooning. Omaha Whiskey FestOctober

 

The largest whiskey tasting event in the region is set to take place at the Hilton Omaha. Attendees will have access to over 400 whiskey samples from more than 65 brands, offering a diverse range of flavors and styles. The event features a boxed lunch with options including turkey, roast beef, or vegetarian sandwiches, accompanied by chips and a cookie.

 

A unique attraction is the Havana Garage Cigar and Whiskey Lounge, where guests can enjoy cigars and cocktails while listening to live music by The Mojito Brothers. The Sip Nebraska Wine, Craft Beer & Spirits Festival features tastings from 20 Nebraska wineries including James Arthur Vineyards and Deer Springs Winery, plus 15 craft breweries such as Kinkaider Brewing and Zipline Brewing Company. Local food trucks serve everything from wood-fired pizza to gourmet tacos, while artisan vendors offer handmade jewelry, pottery and locally-produced honey products.

 

The main stage hosts continuous live music throughout the day featuring local Nebraska bands like The 402 Band and Lightning Bug. Unique features include hands-on mixology classes, blind tasting challenges, and educational seminars about wine and beer making processes taught by industry experts. VIP ticket holders gain access to exclusive reserve tastings in a private tent featuring limited release wines and spirits not available to general admission guests.
